This is the privacy policy for Stichting Effective Altruism Amsterdam (“EA Amsterdam”, “we”, “our”, “us”; KvK number 86712187). EA Amsterdam is part of the effective altruism network in the Netherlands, which is coordinated by Stichting Effectief Altruisme Nederland (EAN). Both EA Amsterdam and EAN are supported by the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA).
This privacy policy will explain how and why our organisation uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website or sign up for one of our events, programs, mailing lists, or other interest forms and activities.

What data do we collect?
EA Amsterdam collects the following data:
Personal identification information (name, email address, phone number, age, etc.).
Your study background or field of work, including your study programme, university/institution, phase of studies, graduation year, and student number.
Prior and current involvement in effective altruism (e.g. cause area interests or career plans) and EA Amsterdam (e.g. involvement in events, programs, and activities).
Information you provide to use when you fill in an application, sign-up form, survey, or feedback form for one of our events, programs, or activities:
Your motivation for attending the event/program/activity
The way you learned about the event/program/activity.
Ways you have already engaged with related content.
What your career planning status and career interests are.
Your location preference, when applicable.
Your CV, LinkedIn, Calendly, or other profiles/links you voluntarily share with us.
If you contact us for any reason, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide EA Amsterdam with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
Register online for our newsletter.
Register online for one of our events, programs, or activities.
Register online via any of our interest forms.
Voluntarily complete a survey or provide feedback via any of our communication platforms (including Whatsapp, Slack, Instagram, and LinkedIn) or via email.
Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.
EA Amsterdam may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:
Other (effective altruism) organisations or groups may pass on data you provide to them to connect us to you, depending on their privacy policy.
If you register for a joint event, program, or activity with an organisation we collaborate with, we may receive your personal information from them.

Send you our email newsletter with information about our agenda, events, programs, and other activities and opportunities.
Evaluate your application to attend an event, program, or activity.
Send you information about events, programs, or activities you signed up for.

How do we store your data?
EA Amsterdam securely stores your data on Mailchimp and Airtable.

We will store your personal data for a maximum of 10 years, during which it may be relevant for career support, activities, updates, or opportunities. Once this time period has expired, we will delete your data. We will regularly check the personal information we hold and delete that which is not necessary anymore.

Marketing
EA Amsterdam would like to send you information about events, programs, activities, products and services of ours that we think you might like, as well as those of our partner organisations.
